–Institute Interaction
| Because of its
convenient location in the midst of a large
industrial complex, the Regional Engineering
College Durgapur maintains a regular and
worthwhile interaction with the industry. The
engineering departments render testing and
consultancy services to the neighboring
industries. The faculty members along with the R&D
cells of the industries take up joint projects on
industrial problems. An Industry-Institute Cell
has been set up in the College to look after such
activities. As faculty members of various
departments visit industries and discuss on
industrial problems, the experts from the
industries also move to the college to deliver
lectures to the students and to share experiences
with the teachers. Industrial visits by the
students is a common feature of the college. To promote testing, consultancy and research activities, a number of modern laboratories have been set-up in the college under the Centre of Excellence Scheme of the Govt. of India. Some of them are 1. Materials Testing and System Analysis Laboratory 2.Civil Engineering Testing Laboratory 3.Environmental Laboratory 4.Center for Energy Studies State-of-art instruments like Digital Controlled Universal Testing Machine, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer etc. have been procured for these laboratories. |
