The college possesses
state-of-art computing facilities. The college
has a Computer Centre as central computing
facility for the students and the teachers of the
college. The Centre has separate building with
necessary infrastructure like sufficient air-conditioned
space and stabilized uninterrupted power supply
as well as trained technical manpower. It has one
SUN workstation, two multimedia workstations and
a large number of PCs. It has several softwares
like Oracle, Sybase, High-performance Fortran,
Visual Reality, Statistical Package.
The Computer
Science and Engineering Department has dual
processor powered IBM RS/6000 system running AIX
along with SUN workstation and 22 nos. of latest
PCs connected to the college LAN. THe software
packages in the computer department include DB/2,
LBMS CASE Tools, and Turbo Analyst. The
Department also has 8-node Beowulf cluster of PCs
running Linux in adition to other Linux-based
computing resources.
Apart from the
above each academic department has its own
Computer Laboratory with a sizeable number of PCs
and Workstations running specialised engineering
and scientific packages, like MATLAB, AUTOCad,
STADD, IDEAS, PSpice, ANSYS, AFS, Sybase and
PowerBuilder.
The whole college
is connected by a campuswide LAN using high speed
Fibre Optic/UTP cables. The LAN is managed by a
Cisco Ethernet Switch and a SUN UltraSparc Server
running Solaris. The switch is connected by Fibre
Optic cable to 8 UB hubs located in different
academic departments of the college. The hubs
cater to a whole lot of nodes in different
departments. In additon to this, the Library as
well as the Administration section have separate
local networks on Acer Altos Servers running
Novell Netware. The Library is fully computerised
using LibSys software.
The college has a
64 Kbps Leased Line Internet Connectivity from
VSNL Calcutta, which serves the College Internet
needs. Web/Mail service is done using a HP E/60
Netserver. .
